All four of the black painting are studies I was working on last summer They are smallish - 11"x14"x.75", gallery wrapped (no visible staples, so they don’t require framing) and entirely painted in tones of black and transparent colors. They were meant to be practice for me to get used to working in very low contrast. Finding the range of almost invisible that is appealing and just enough there to be interesting to look at, as well as learning the nuance in each of my paint colors. It’s been helpful in priming my brain for some of the color-on-blackout cover ups I’m currently tattooing. I look forward to showing you all the cover ups as they develop a bit more, as well as coming back to paint more like this to further develop ideas.
